MGT have released sophomore album ‘Gemini Nyte’, available now on CD/digital from Cleopatra Records.  The new album features 13 new songs recorded and mostly written by guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (THE MISSION/PETER MURPHY) and vocalist Ashton Nyte (THE AWAKENING), plus drummer Paul Ferguson (KILLING JOKE) plus guest appearances by Burton C Bell (FEAR FACTORY) and Lol Tolhurst & Pearl Thompson (founder members of THE CURE) on ‘The Assembly Line’ single. “As an avid fan of Scott Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots I was deeply moved by his passing. Mark and I were busy recording the Gemini Nyte album at the time and I reached out to him to record some acoustic guitars for “Atlanta”, as I was toying with releasing a stripped version of the song as an Ashton Nyte solo single / tribute at the time. Mark kindly obliged and then kept adding bits and pieces to the musical arrangement and it organically evolved into a “Gemini Nyte” track. Once I had laid down the vocals I knew it had to be our album closer. It is not necessarily the best known STP track but has been my favourite song of Scott’s since the moment I first heard it. We shot a very impromptu video of Mark and I recording the song in the studio, in the hope that it captures the intimacy of the performance and the love we both have for this beautiful song and our respect for the body of work Scott Weiland and Stone Temple Pilots have given us. MGT to release new album ‘GEMINI NYTE,’ LOUDWIRE premiere the new single/video “All the Broken Things”

Following the success of MGT with Ville Valo (HIM) last year on the gothic rock cover of ABBA’s classic “Knowing Me Knowing You” (over 2M views on YouTube), former Mission/Peter Murphy/Tricky guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite has teamed back up with vocalist Ashton Nyte of The Awakening to create the upcoming album ‘GEMINI NYTE’.

The duo signed to legendary US gothic label Cleopatra Records, and will release the sophomore MGT album on 23 February 2018. The new album features 13 new songs written and recorded by Thwaite and Nyte, plus Paul Ferguson (KILLING JOKE) on drums and will feature guest appearances by Burton C Bell (FEAR FACTORY) and Lol Tolhurst & Pearl Thompson – founding members of THE CURE who appeared on the band’s early & classic releases.

The first single from the new album is “All The Broken Things,” a stomping goth rocker with a new video featuring Nyte, Thwaite, Paul Ferguson and ex-The Mission bassist Richard Vernon. Mixed by legendary producer John Fryer (NINE INCH NAILS, HIM, THIS MORTAL COIL) and directed by Vicente Cordero, who recently directed videos for QUEENSRŸCHE, 3TEETH and JYRKI 69. Sleeve art by renowned UK artist Paul Skellett.

Ashton Nyte: “I think “All The Broken Things” is a wonderful introduction to this chapter of work, both sonically and lyrically. Mark and I started working together on the “Volumes” album and we just kept writing. We wrote and recorded most of the Gemini Nyte album within 3 or 4 months of meeting each other. I think that fluidity is reflected in this song and captured by the beautiful video Vicente Cordero has made for us.”

MGT feat.Ville Valo-official video premiere for ‘Knowing Me Knowing You’

Along with the release of the single ”Knowing Me Knowing You” on April 15th, British guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (aka MGT) premiered his new  video starring Ville Valo (HIM), the featured vocalist on the ABBA cover. The video was shot in the California mountains and Helsinki Finland during February and March with well-known Finnish video director & photographer Ville Juurikkala (The 69 EYES, APOCALYPTICA, HIM). Juurikkala is known for his very unique way of catching pictures, blending in colours, and with the layered shots in this video, he creates a kind of James Bond feeling to it.

MGT gave the following comment about the video shoot:
“ABBA released ‘Knowing Me Knowing You” nearly 40 years ago in the winter of 1977, and the single sleeve and their video had a wintery feel to it, so when we decided to shoot a video for our version, both myself and Ville Valo agreed we should try and capture some of the feel of the ABBA version and have a winter vibe to our video as well.. So we shot my footage up in snow covered mountains, and Ville’s close-ups in front of a fire place in a secret place in Hell-sinki.. we’re pleased with it, and director Ville Juurikkala did a fantastic job!”
